With the growth of Pygmy Dragons as popular pets in wholly magical settlements, Domestic Dragons are increasingly common. Many a child, one visiting Diagon or Rue de la Manticore or any of the myriad others, will end up asking after small fiery reptiles in the window-cages.
However, they are not the easiest things to keep. Certain breeds, such as the Shadowed Snapdragon, are even best raised from the egg, and so require special spells and heated blankets to ensure safe delivery. And, barring very few, all require one fireproof one’s home.
In this chapter, we shall discuss the needs of Domestic Dragons, the various breeds available and their needs - the sizes they grow to, their diet, training, and exercise - as well as the all important ways one may keep them from muggle sight.
